[DIECAST] Minichamps Review: Tyrrell Ford 007 1975 (I.Scheckter)

Hi Guys,

Today we have another classic Diecast and Limited Edition Review. We have another Tyrrell Ford 007 but this time driven by Ian Scheckter and during the 1975 season.

This is another car that is a Limited Model and is quite a rare one as it is limited to just 1008 pieces.

1975 Formula 1 Season

Emerson Fitipaldi was reigning World Champion and was racing for McLaren. Niki Lauda was racing with Ferrari and James Hunt was racing for the Hesketh Team. Jody Scheckter, Ian's brother raced for Elf Team Tyrrell. (The Works team).

The season would see James Hunt win in the Hesketh after a string of retirements. Jody Scheckter would win infront of his home crowd. Niki Lauda would take the title from Emerson Fitipaldi by 19.5 points.

Ian Scheckter's 1975 Season

Ian Scheckter would race for the South African team of Lexington Racing as well as Frank Williams Racing Cars. He would race in both cars when racing for Williams. Ian Scheckter would participate in 3 races in the season and only once for the Lexington Racing Team.
He raced the Lexington Tyrrell infront of his home crowd in the third race of the season. The race that his Brother won.

Ian Scheckter would not score any points but and would retire twice. He would retire at South Africa and in his first race for Williams in Sweden. He would finish 12th in his second outing at the Netherlands. As a result he is not classified in the official Formula 1 Championship.

1975 South African GP

During the Practice seasons several drivers crashed, such as Graham Hill, who after his crash decided not to race. Niki Lauda, who hit the wall at 120mph and even Jody Scheckter would suffer an accident during the practice sessions. The accidents caused drivers and mechanics to unite and stop practicing and to fix the issues on track to make it safer for drivers.

Carlos Pace lead a Brabham 1-2 early on. He was soon passed by Jody Scheckter and Carlos Reutemann and Patrick Depailler climbed up to third. James Hunt retired and started his string of retirements in South Africa. Ian Scheckter would crash but his brother would drive home to victory and score his only home win.

My Thoughts

This is a very nice model and it is a model based on one race. The Lexington team only participated in the South African GP. I like this model and I think it being Limited edition makes it more appealing. Tyrrell always made nice looking cars. (Accept the 6 wheeler. I don't like that car). The colour scheme is nice and well done. The drivers helmet is well detailed and so is the exposed parts of the engine. The car is almost clear of advertising which is another appealing thing about this car, just a few Goodyear and Shell stickers placed on the wings.

If you're a Tyrrell fan then this car is for you.

You can BUY this car from Mcslots.
