[DIECAST] Formula 1 Cars I would like to add to my collection and why.

Hi Guys,

This little article is about certain F1 cars I would like to add to my collection and why.

Spyker Ferrari 2007 Adrian Sutil.

No prizes given if you guess why this car is on this list. It's driven by Adrian Sutil, one of my favourite F1 drivers but this is the car he drove in his debut season. He also scored his first world championship point in Fuji, Japan. This car is also the predecessor to Force India VJM01.

Sauber Ferrari C31 2012 Sergio Perez 1st Podium.

Since Sergio Perez joined Force India in 2014 he has scored two great podiums.(Bahrain 2014 and Russia 2015, both 3rd place.) Because I only have his limited edition VJM07, I thought I might as well get the other Limited edition podium car that Minichamps have made for Sergio Perez. This model is limited to just 1200 models, however that is over twice as many that are available for the VJM07 (504). I like to get cars that have some sort of significant history to them. This being Perez's first podium in F1 at Malaysia fits the bill quite nicely.

Sauber Ferrari C32 2013 Nico Hulkenberg.

Nico Hulkenberg left Force India to join Sauber after their success in the 2012 season. Unfortunately the teams form dropped off and Hulkenberg found himself rejoining his former team in 2014. That said I only have 1 Hulkenberg model and considering he is my favourite driver I would like to get this one to add to my collection. It's a shame that Minichamps do not make the 2010 Williams car because otherwise I would add that to my collection also. The all black Sauber is lovely livery and I do like it. Adding this to my collection will be a nice addition and tribute to my favourite driver. That said Hulkenberg produced some stunning drives in the Sauber Ferrari. A highlight was Hulkenberg out qualifying all other Ferrari powered cars at Monza. Adding this to my collection was also go with the Sauber C31 if I end up purchasing that one too.

Sahara Force India VJM07 2014 Nico Hulkenberg.

I already own a VJM07 and It's Sergio Perez's Bahrain Podium car. I really wish it was Hulkenberg though because the VJM07 looked fantastic with the orange side-pods but for some reason after that Grand Prix they changed to black. Luckily at least Perez scored a Podium meaning that Minichamps produced it with the orange side-pods along with two regular VJM07's I'm not a massive fan of the black side-pods but in the flesh they look a lot better. Like I said earlier I only have 1 Hulkenberg car which will not do! I will add this one to my collection but I will be after some of the others on this list first.

Porsche 919 Hybrid #19 Le Mans winner 2015 Nico Hulkenberg.

This is the first model that isn't done by Minichamps that is on this list (and not an F1 car). It is made by Spark. Again it's another Hulkenberg car and is without a doubt probably the most significant model to date. It is yet to be released but is in Development. It will be in 1/43 scale like the rest of my models. It's also significant because Nico Hulkenberg won his first Le Mans he'd entered and is the only driver on the grid who has been racing in both WEC and Formula 1 in the same year. (The last driver was Sebastien Bourdais in 2009).

Sahara Force India VJM08 2015 Nico Hulkenberg.

I couldn't get a clear image of the car as it hasn't been released on the official Minichamps site. However it looks like it won't be the B-Spec VJM08. However there are still 4 races to go and one of them is Interlagos (Brazil) a track that Nico excells at and almost won in 2012. Lets hope a podium and a Limited edition come our way then maybe just maybe that means this car won't make the collection in favour of the slightly better looking VJM08B.

Speculation!!

The following cars are all cars that I believe maybe produced by Minichamps and hence would earn a spot on my list.

Sahara Force India VJM08B 2015 Sergio Perez Russia Podium.

If Minichamps stick to form then it looks like we will recieve yet another limited edition Perez Podium car. After some brilliant racing in Russia and holding 3rd for a majority of the race Perez looked like he would lose it all on the penultimate lap after Valteri Bottas made an excellent move up the inside of Perez. Raikkonen also passed in the same corner. Perez couldn't fight his tyres were dead. So 5th looked like his finishing position. However an over eager move by Raikkonen on his fellow Finnish driver caused both to suffer major damage, resulting in Bottas retiring and Raikkonen limping back to base, to be later penalised further. Perez took the unexpected podium that looked to be lost.

Hopefully the Heroics of Perez will get him another deserved limited edition diecast for his fans to collect. This also means the B spec will be made and I would certainly get that. However I am still hopeful of a Hulkenberg Podium and a possible limited edition of that too. A 1/43 scale model is the size I'd like.

Haas F1 Team 2016 Romain Grosjean.

I am quite looking forward to seeing what Haas F1 bring to Formula 1. I am also eager to see if they out perform their predecessors Marussia, Caterham and HRT and score early. Early indications say yes, but winter testing will show. Also with Manor getting the 2016 Mercedes engine they maybe locked in a battle with them and McLaren Honda. They also pride themselves on being a uniquely coloured team, going for a bright yellow scheme. Although no official images have emerge just yet, Romain Grosjean has been confirmed. This is pure speculation. Minichamps may not even produce the Haas F1 car. They never made a Marussia Caterham or HRT model, but I am thinking thye just might or this team. (As long as they perform).
