Today we have another Minichamps review, today's review is a Ford Focus RS WRC from the 2006 Monza Rally Show. This model is driven by MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi.
Valentino Rossi is mainly know for his exploits in MotoGP, currently holding 6 championships (2002-2005 2008-2009)
It wasn't just MotoGP that Rossi participated in. Rossi has tested the Ferrari Formula 1 car in 2006 and even set faster times than Mark Webber, Jarno Trulli and David Coulthard.
Beyond his interest in F1, Rossi's strong passion is for rallying. In Rossi's youth one of his heroes was WRC Champion Colin McRae. Rally legend McRae taught Rossi the basics of driving a rally car. The two competed against each other at the 2005 Monza Rally Show, with McRae driving a Skoda Fabia WRC and Rossi winning in a Subaru Impreza WRC. His first official foray into rallying came in 2002 at WRC Rally Great Britain in a Peugeot 206 WRC, in which he crashed out on the second stage (first non-superspecial stage).
Ford RS WRC.
The Ford RS WRC was built for the Ford World Rally Team by Ford Europe and M-Sport. It was based on the Ford Focus Hatchback, the car was developed for competition in the World Rally Championship. The RS stands for Rallye Sport and WRC stands for World Rally Championship.
The car enjoyed some great success from 1999-2010 including, 44 victories and two manufactures titles in 2006-2007. The Ford RS WRC would be replaced by the Ford Fiesta RS WRC.
Some noted drivers are. Carlos Sainz, Mikko Hirvonen, Marcus Gronholm, Markko Martin and Colin McRea.
The Ford RS WRC entered 173 World Rally Championship events and won 44 of them and scored 142 podiums.
Monza Rally Show 2006.
The Monza Rally show 2006 was held on the 24th-26th of November.
It had 78 entrants with only 7 retirements. The winner was Italy's Valentino Rossi with co driver Carlo Cassina. He won by 24.3 seconds over Rinaldo Capello and Massimo Ciceri who were driving a Sabura Impreza S11 WRC.

My Thoughts.
This car is great. It's got fantastic levels of details and it has some nice features. Including a very personalised box and a highly detailed figure. It's the first model I have reviewed with a figure. The box even caries the Valentino Rossi Collection tag, which features on a most of his products. Valentino Rossi has made quite an impact on all the motorsports he has participated in and you can now collect highly detailed models form his Rally foray. The Ford is an iconic rally car and quite a popular model as well. It would make a great addition to any collection. It's not the rarest car by Minichamps but is still a limited model.
