[SLOT CAR] SCX Review: Aston Martin DBR9 Hexis

Hi Guys,

Today I am changing things up a bit. I am now reviewing slot cars again. This post is about the SCX Aston Martin DBR9. This is Team Hexis car used in the Blancpain Endurance Series.

Team Hexis Racing.

Hexis Racing is an auto racing team based in LédenonFrance. Hexis Racing was founded by Michel Mateu, CEO of Hexis S.A. in 2001, initially for participation in the French Formula Renault Championship. Hexis later moved into grand tourer racing in 2005, participating in the FFSA GT Championship before joining the FIA GT3 European Championship in 2007. Hexis Racing has further expanded, now supporting Aston Martin Racing in the 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship season.

Aston Martin DBR9.

The Aston Martin DBR9 is a racing car built by Aston Martin Racing, debuting in 2005 and racing actively in international sportscar racing until the end of GT1 category in 2011. The name DBR9 is derived from the original 24 Hours of Le Mans-winning DBR1 car, named for then-owner David Brown, which not only won the 24 Hour race in 1959 but also the World Sportscar title. The car is most famous for taking two LMGT1 class wins at Le Mans 24 Hours (2007 and 2008) by the Aston Martin Racing factory team.

The Model.

This model is produced by slot car manufacturer SCX. It has some great features. Not only is it greatly detailed in 1:32 scale but the car also features:

  • Working front and rear lights
  • Tilting Chassis
  • Removable and adjustable magnets
  • ARS (Automatic Return system)
  • Guide with suspension
Car will run on all analogue track Scalextric, SCX, Carrera.

My Thoughts.

It's great to review Slot cars again. It's great. It will run on most 1:32 scale tracks. SCX generally sell cheaper than Scalextric cars and they produce cars at a good standard. They come in stackable boxes which is a great feature. While racing the car there are a few things to consider. The Rear wing and wing mirrors will probably fall off if they take a big enough hit. So if you want it in prestine condition, I would either buy two or I would try to get spares which is possible.

You can BUY this car from Mcslots eBay for under £30 which is great price for a slot car.
