[DIECAST] Minichamps Review: Porsche 911 GT3 RSR White Lightning Racing 2004

Today's review is Le Mans Entry from 2004. It's White Lightning Racing Porsche 911 GT3 RSR.




2004 Le Mans 24 Hours.

The Le Mans 24 Hours we held on 12th and 13th of June 2004. Bentley withdrew their Le Mans project and there were no "works" teams in LMP1 leaving the race open to anyone. However the Audi R8 was proved to be the car to have, even in Privateer hands with the Podium being locked out by 3 of the Audi R8's. The race was comprised of 48 Entrants split into 4 catergories; LMP1, LMP2, GTS and GT.

Tom Kristensen (DEN) won with Seiji Ara (JAP) and Rinaldo Capello (ITA) in the Audi Sport Japan Team Goh completing 379 laps just beating Audi Sport UK Team Veloqx driven by former F1 driver Johnny Herbert (GBR). Tom Kristensen equalled Jacky Ickx's win tally of 6 and it was Kristensen's 5th victory in a row.

White Lightning Racing's race.

The White Lightning Racing Porsche was driven by Jorg Bergmeister (GER) Partick Long (USA) and Sascha Maassen (GER) and was entered in the GT category. The team enjoyed a very sucessful Le Mans. They won their category by 5 laps over the Japanese entry of ChoroQ Racing Team completing 327 laps (White Lightning) and 322 laps respectively. Not only did they enjoy a class victory but the team was classified 10th overall in the standings and were classified higher than the LMP2 category leader, Intersport Racing which finished 25th overall out of the 26 classified finishers.

This model consists of 57 parts with 140 decorations. It has 53 Mask sprays, 31 Tampo prints, 38 Decals, 14 Free sprays and 4 Chromed parts.

My Thoughts.

This is an excellent little car. At 1:43 scale it means it is easily displayed in its box and it doesn't take up to much room. I normally have my Minichamps Models just on my desk next to my computer. The boxes are designed to allow stacking as well meaning you can get a tower of them going without invading to much room.

Minichamps produce 3 White Lightning Racing models. All limited edition, all in 1:43 scale as well. I like the colour scheme, I think its bold and eye catching car and would be a great addition to any Porsche fan.

You can BUY this car from Mcslots on eBay for less than £20 which is a great price for a limited edition diecast car!!

It's a piece of Le Mans history. 2004 was a year that was different to most. It saw new records achieved, an all privateer LMP1 and it saw GT cars beating LMP2. This car achieved great things. 10th overall and being ahead of the class leaders of classes that should've been paces ahead. It's a must have for any Porsche, Minichamps or Le Mans fan!!!
