[DIECAST] Premium X Review: Nissan GT-R LM Nismo #23 Sebring Test

Hi guys,

Today we have something very different. Not only do we have a new brand that I am reviewing but also this car is from a different motor sport series, the WEC.

This is the Nissan GT-R LM Nismo by PREMiUM X Diecast.

About the Nissan GT-R LM.

This car is very unique compared to it's conterparts. Porsche 919 Hybrid, Audi R18 e-Tron, Toyota TS040. Not only does the canopy sit further back to the other three but the engine sits in front of the cockpit. (A design not seen since the Panoz LMP01 EVO). However unlike the Panoz the power goes to the front axle through the gear box in the front of the car.

Nissan intended to enter two GT-R LM's in the 2015 FIA World Endurance Championship starting in April 2015, while a third car would be entered for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The team is based in Indianapolis, Indiana, while the first test of the car took place at Nissan's testing grounds in Arizona. T
esting took place at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. Initially planned for a launch in Europe, Nissan North America chose instead to use the new car in their Super Bowl commercial, and the film was made during the GT-R LM's testing at Circuit of the Americas.

Some well known drivers joined the team. Marc Gene former Audi driver, 2014 LMP2 class winner Harry Tincknell and former European Le Mans winner Olivier Pla.

Former F1 Marussia driver Max Chilton also joined along with fellow Britons Jann Mardenborough and Alex Buncombe.

Le Mans 24 Hours 2015.

The number 23 car was driven by Max Chilton, Jann Mardenborough and Olivier Pla. Unfortunately they qualified 31st behind the No.22 car and one place ahead of the 21 car. The next nearest LMP1 car was the ByKolles car in 29th place. The Nissan's were 20 seconds off the pace. The number 23 car also missed the start due to repairs to the clutch but soon made it out on track to race. In the end none of the Nissan's would be classified. The No.23 car completed 234 laps, with No.22, driven by Alex Buncombe, Nick Tincknell and Micheal Krumm completing 241 laps. The No.22 car was the first to fall completing 115 laps respectfully.

The Le Mans 24 Hours was however the Nissan GT-R LM Nismo's first race and it has to be one of Motorsports toughest races. (Sebring and Spa 12 Hours come to mind). Nissan tried something different and hopefully will be up to speed for next years Le Mans.

The Model.

Product code: PRD518J
Scale:             1:43
Drivers:           Max Chilton, Jann Mardenborough, Micheal Krumm (Le Mans)
Year:               2015

This model is the Test Car that was used in Sebring. It features the bright red colour scheme that was used by two of the cars at the Le Mans 24 Hours.

My Thoughts.

This is a stunning model and has great detail. There is no driver in the cockpit however. I'm not sure what my opinion is on that. I have reason for liking it and not, just like my Minichamps Formula 1 cars. The car has a very nice colour scheme and in my opinion looks very futuristic. It's different to any other car out there. It's also the dawn of Nissan's LMP project and taking on fellow Japanese manufacturers Toyota. Hopefully next year we will see Nissan fighting in an epic four way battle for the Le Mans win.

If you like your LMP cars and want a brilliantly detailed model then this is it. You can buy this from Mcslots eBay store. It's a great price as well. Quite competitive for diecast models.

If I wasn't collecting Formula 1 cars then this would be what I would collect.

Thanks for reading. Click the link to see the price and don't forget to look at all the other stuff Mcslots has to offer!!!
